The Material

Many of Armand van Rensburg's sculptures are crafted using Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP) resin. This durable and versatile material offers a compelling alternative to bronze, providing lasting quality at a more affordable price point.

GRP resin is durable and weather-resistant, making its structural integrity ideal for both indoor and outdoor installations.

While GRP resin is a popular choice, Armand also offers his sculptures in bronze for those seeking investment pieces or a traditional aesthetic. Regardless of the material, each sculpture is a testament to Armand's artistry and commitment to quality.

The Process

Each sculpture begins with a journey of inspiration. Armand gathers reference images, carefully selecting elements that resonate with his vision. He then infuses the piece with his unique artistic touch, creating a truly original work.

The sculpting process is a delicate dance of creativity and precision. Armand skillfully shapes the clay, transforming it into a three-dimensional representation of his vision. Once the initial form is complete, a mould is created to cast the final piece in resin.

The next stage, patination and colouring, is where the sculpture truly comes to life. Armand carefully applies pigments and finishes to enhance the texture and depth of the piece. His meticulous attention to detail ensures that every sculpture is a masterpiece.

From the initial inspiration to the final finishing touches, Armand is personally involved in every step of the sculpting process. This hands-on approach guarantees impeccable quality and a truly unique creation.
